Our carefully curated itinerary blends cultural immersion with unparalleled photographic opportunities. From the mystical Skeleton Tribe's performances to the rhythmic dances of the Huli Wigmen, each moment beckons to be captured by your lens.
Beneath Papua New Guinea's towering mountains and rich traditions, experience the perfect fusion of adrenaline and aesthetics as you photograph a wide variety of tribes in their natural settings.
Throughout this adventure, you will be provided with professional Profoto lighting equipment, modifiers, backdrops and heaps of one-on-one instruction from one of three professional photographers. With a limit of 6 clients, the student to instructor ratio is 2 to 1 - lots of time for getting things just right. We will also make time to review images to ensure we are getting our captures just right.

Itinerary
About Tribal Photography: This workshop offers significant opportunities for photographing native tribes. We do our very best to maximize our photographic opportunities based on past experiences and local knowledge.
This itinerary is subject to change due to weather, local conditions, and other factors.

Current schedule
October 25, 2025: Arrive into Port Moresby for an overnight at the Hilton. We will have a wonderful dinner together and discuss what follows.
October 26: We fly to Goroka and drive to our first camp, Asaro Eco Lodge. After settling into camp, we will have our first photo session in the late afternoon.
October 27: Today will be filled with photography as we capture images from the MokoMoko, Asaro Mud Men, River Dance Tribe and, if weather permits, we will take a short hike to the top of a nearby mountain for a sunrise ceremony shoot.
October 28- November 2: Today we journey to our next camp, the Skeleton Tribe Eco Lodge, our base camp for the next six days. Working out of this camp, we will photograph more than a dozen different tribes, each in unique settings. You will get a chance to witness some of the most cherished tribal rituals while being accepted into their communities with open arms. It is this acceptance that allows us to capture special images that are seldom seen by others. Tribes included but are not limited to The Skeleton Tribe, Insect Hunters, Wizards, River People, Stone Tribe, BogoBogo, and many more. You can expect long days as we traverse the Highlands photographing these indigenous tribes in their rural settings.
November 3-4: Travel to Mount Hagen and settle into the Highlander Hotel. From this location we will focus on the Huli Wig Men, Blue Beards, and the Giwaka tribes.
November 5: Fly to Port Moresby and overnight at the Hilton Hotel for our final day together. The workshop concludes following our group dinner.
November 6: Fly home.
